A baby bird was injured by a boy on his bike, our little neighbor Steven rescued it, he feeds it around the clock and is quite the proud caretaker, Anna Kate think it's marvelous, but doesn't want to hold it. Anna Kate has learned a lot about nature and the circle of life through animals around here, she has watched a birds nest be built, eggs laid and hatched, the baby birds from being bald to leaving the nest, a pregnant stray cat which we named and shared custody of with the neighboors, then she had her kittens (under our house of course), one even crawled into our return unit and meowed us good morning, my beloved Bootsie (the cat we had since the girls were 10) became sick and died, Anna Kate will tell you that Bootsie passed (but she also said if you keep watching, 'jesturing toward the street' that she may pass by again), my precious little Sadie dog went from a vivacious soccer playing dog to a crippled little old lady, plus the baby bunny Papaw found which we had to explain we had to let go back to live int the wild and why. I'd say Anna Kate will become the animal lover I've always been as we share the same enthusiasm over them. The child even likes worms, eeewwww!
